何が「自分USインディ好きなんすよ」だ。何が「そっすね～自分オブモントリトールやアップルズインステレオあたりのエレファント6関連は押さえてますね」だ。おれ Neutral Milk Hotel のこと、ホステスヘッドライナー(だよね？)にクレジットされるまで名前すら聞いたことなかったよ！ほんと恥ずかしい。youtubeで聴いたらカッコ良すぎたんですわ。んで音源買って聴いたらあまりにも良過ぎてビビった次第です。
どれくらいビビったかというと、つい先日のことだ。近所の個人経営してる中華料屋屋に行ったんだけど開店時間17時を15分過ぎてもお店開いてる雰囲気無いわけ。んで外から覗いてみたら店主が完全に客席に寝ていてもう完全に起こすの申し訳ない感じになってたから他の店探しにいったんだよ。でも良い店無いから仕方なくさっきの中華料理屋に電話したわけよ。17:30くらいに。そしたら
「はい○○です！」
って超元気に店主電話に出たの。んで全然知らないふりして「何時から営業やってますか？」って聞いたら
「もう営業やってますよ！」
って言い切りやがった。お前さっきまで寝てたろ何言ってんだという時の驚きくらいNeutral Hotel Milkの音源が良過ぎたのである。ごめんまったく関係ない話してる。とにかくこんな素晴らしいローファイでフォーキーなアルバムが1998年に出てたとか知りませんでした。

一番好きな曲はやっぱり「Holland, 1945」
この曲最高だわやっぱり。天才過ぎる。フォークベースなんだろうけどアコギでこんな疾走感出すことに成功しているローファイポップは初めて聴きました。ボーカルもこれローファイだけど全然下手じゃないよね。途中で入ってくるホーン・セクションが更にうるうるくる。歌詞は訳せないから良いのかどうかさっぱりわからないけどなんだか詩的な匂いを感じている。よくわからんが。
